Nurse Tech Training Class...

Published

Does anyone know about the Nurse Tech Training Class at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa? I'm very interested in Nursing! Would it be better to start in a program-such as this- Or, enroll in Tulsa Technology Center's CNA program?

What are your future goals in nursing? Do you eventually want to become a nurse or would you like to be a nurse tech only?? I ask because many nursing programs require that you have a cna license in order to get in their program. Unfortunately, a nurse tech at sfh would not neccessarily cover that. I understand you probably want to start out somewhere in the medical field- just consider your future goals as well so that you don't have to jump through extra hoops in order to get into a nursing program. If your leaning towards nursing, I would do the cna and get a job at a hospital and they will pay your way through nursing school if you want to do that. Just some thing to think about.

I guess it depends on if you are needing to actually have certification as a Patient Care Tech or or just wanting to work as a nurse tech. As was said above, many nursing schools require either PCT or CNA certification. At one time the program at St Francis wasn't eligible for the PCT certification so that might be something to check into.

Other than that, I would encourage you to pursue some sort of path like this if you plan to go into nursing in the future. My time as a nurse aide was invaluable to me!

Thank you very much for replying! I think I'm going to check into TTC's program. I think it would be a good way to see if nursing is for me. If I like it, then I want to go all the way! I'm only 30(without kids). I want to find a satisfying career because I'm totally burned out in my present one. Hopefully, it will work out. Thanks!
