2012 Nurse Residency Program at Vanderbilt

I am applying to the nurse residency program winter 2012 at Vanderbilt. Is anybody else applying??:D

Has anyone started interviewing yet? How's the experience?

I will be applying for this program to start next summer. Can anyone please share the type of interview questions they ask?

Thanks for sharing, that does help a lot! I'm applying for the Summer 2012 cohort. I also did a nurse internship this past summer, and I do belong to a few nursing organizations. However, my cumulative GPA is a 3.1 (I ruined this before I even became a nursing major!) Despite my low GPA, I'm going to apply anyway.. I have nothing to lose right? :)

well, they did ask for both nursing and cumulative GPA so i think you might have a good chance! good luck!! :)

You definitely have a chance. The minimum is 3.0 for this round. Good luck!

I interviewed today for the Peds track! I can't wait to hear back! The 3 women who interviewed me were very nice and the questions weren't so bad. I will be praying until the middle of November I get a position, but they said people traveled from out of the country to interview.

They don't do Skype interviews? I thought they did. Maybe it was another thread that I read that on but I thought that Vanderbilt did Skype interviews for people out of the area.

They do Skype interviews, but it is strongly suggested that you appear in person.

You mean doing a Skype interview would affect how they rate you? That's odd. I wonder why they even offer them. I live on an island and will be applying at several places throughout the country so it gets very expensive with airfare and hotel. I guess I am thinking I will get a lot of interviews. Not sure if that is the case.

Hello everyone.. Good luck to the winter 2012 cohort! I will be applying to the 2012 summer cohort in November. I am very excited to be graduating in May. I can't decide if I want to do women's health or critical care? I love both! Also, Do you submit any recommendation letters?

Yes, you submit two clinical instructor recommendation letters and there is a scoring sheet they fill out stating whether or not they recommend you. All of the required materials will be sent to you via email once they begin accepting applications.
