Nurse Residencies in Dallas February 2018

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hey y'all! I was wondering if anyone else was applying to jobs in the Dallas area for February 2018 start date? What places are y'all applying and have y'all heard back from any of them?

I got the Preference & Screen form, sent it back & have yet to hear anything. I emailed them earlier today. How did you find out you were rejected those 5 positions? I created a separate forum for THR but don't think anyone had posted yet. Congratulations on your offer from a Medical City!

Hi! I applied to HCA (Denton and Plano), Baylor (Grapevine and Irving), Parkland, JPS, and Methodist Dallas ER residencies. I am an EMT with 7 years experience in the ER. So far, I have interviewed at both HCA facilities, Baylor Grapevine, and JPS. I have not heard any correspondence at all from Parkland or Methodist.

The Baylor recruiter would only let me interview at one facility despite the fact that I applied to two and they are both quite different. I am also confused by THR - I do not see any ER residency openings which seems a little odd. I have a 2nd interview with JPS in the ER tomorrow, so let's see how that goes.

Good luck to everyone!! This is an incredibly nerve racking process. I am feeling nervous and inadequate despite a lot of hands on experience in the department I am applying to.

It is really frustrating that all of the DFW GN residencies don't open/interview/offer around the same time. I got an offer from Baylor today and they want me to respond within 2 days but I have a second interview at JPS tomorrow. I can't necessarily reject Grapevine even if the JPS interview goes well because if JPS doesn't then offer me the position, I will be left without a job. This is tough; thoughts, anyone?

Wow! Literally, about 5 minutes after I made that post I got an interview invite for Harris Methodist for the Neuro ICU which is my dream job! It's like they heard me or something. I thought about just taking the Denton job, but I would feel bad if they sent out rejection letters to those other candidates and then I didn't end up taking the position. Shelby, if you look in your email from the THR applications, there is a link to a site where you can check the status of your application. I watched mine change from "reviewing" to "selected for interview" and then about a minute later I got the preference form and the interview invite in 2 separate emails. Sometimes that link to check your status can be kinda wonky and you have to fill out this little form first to get to the page that will allow you to login. I bookmarked it so now I'm constantly looking on there for changes, lol.

When you get rejected from a position or it is "filled, it automatically sends an email to you saying so and if you go online to your submissions section the positin will say filled.

I have interview for Medical City next week. Waiting on another response from THR. With THR, they said once they get enough applicants for the each job posting they take the position down so other people can no longer apply. They said in their info sessions on Facebook to apply early for that reason, they operate on a "first come, first serve basis" in a way when it comes to applying. All the ED positions came down after a couple days of the applications opening on Sep 30. I applied for ED for Dallas, Arlington, Plano, and Ft Worth. The ED position for Arlington is still up on their site though looks like.

I applied for Methodist too, no response yet. Also, Parkland recruiter told me that their positions for Jan/Feb start have not been opened yet. They said they won't open until end October/Beginning of November. I asked about the nurse resident positions they have posted right now on their site and she said that those are for Fall Start coming up.

Good luck on your interview tomorrow!

Congrats Amemtrn17! A tough decision for sure, but as tough decisions go I think this is a great dilemma to be faced with!

Oh, and THR reposted the Arlington ED position if anyone is still interested! They had taken them all down, but I noticed that that location was back up today

Congrats to everyone on the job offers so far! And, it might be tough deciding what you want to do but make the right decision for you and follow what you really want to do!

Yeah the arlington one is back up, maybe some candidates withdrew their applications or more positions become open in that unit that needed to be filled. Most all of my positions for the Dallas and Ft worth locations of THR have moved to application in review. I'm really going for womens, ED is my second choice. So since you got a interview invite today, hopefully, fingers crossed, I'll get one this week too!

@keunnamonae that makes sense because I started the ED Plano THR app on Oct 2nd and when I went back to complete it the next day, it was gone. I wish I had known it was first come first serve earlier but that's okay, I guess it wasn't meant for me.

Does anyone have interview advice for JPS or know what their ER pay rate is? Baylor starts GNs out at $25/hour which I think is the lowest in the system.

That what medical city is also, $25.05/hour but that only after you have been there 3 months. During the 3 months, you get a stipend of $1,000 every two weeks. So it good maybe not the best but it good. Idk about THR, but parkland I think pays $27.

But, how did interview go? And did you make a decision about Baylor?

@sleepynurseZZZ When is your THR interview going to be? And did you decide on your medical city offer?

I applied to THR about 17 of them that involved some kind of ICU, CC, and PCU. I currently have 2 that are "under review" 1 that has been rejected but the rest still read "considering". Does anyone know exactly how they decide who to interview is there something that they are "looking" for in particular. I also had applied to JPS but was rejected the next day come to find out it was because i have LVN experience and but not enough hospital experience. I do have 3 applications in a Methodist does anyone know when they actually start interviews because its been about 3 weeks and still is in the active review state. I also have 1 under review at Parkand for MICU.
