Nurse in quebec

Published

Hello All.

I am about to graduate from a cegep in Quebec as an RN student. This is a three year diploma program. I just wanted to know if I were to transfer to Ottawa Ontario.. would I have a hard time keeping my title as an RN ? I don't want to work as RPN if I was trained as an RN. I want to get my degree right away, but it takes four years online to complete it. Would the CNO let me work as an RN while getting my degree? Would I be able to get my license in Ontario right away after I receive my diploma without going through the OIIQ? please let me know your experiences..

@nurseology, CNO are the only ones who can answer, suggest you apply after you graduate and see what response you receive. Your bachelor of science degree isn't relevant to becoming a registered nurse in Ontario.

Specializes in PhD in mental health nursing.

Hello, Entry to practice in Ontario is a bachelor of science degree, so the answer is no. Furthermore you haven't said if you wrote the NCLEX exam which is currently the exam for registration that all provinces except Quebec are using. So again the answer is still no. The CNO is the source of truth and asking these question on this forum is probably not the best idea. BTW, I have been a registered nurse in both Ontario and in Quebec.

Ask CNO. but, good luck getting ahold of them.

Has anyone worked in Quebec for info-sante?
