Job interview ? on salary expectations

Every interview I have been on asks, "so what are your salary expectations or what salary are you currently making?" Well, I'd like to make a million dollars, thanks for asking.

Some just point blank ask me, "so how much are you making at your current position?" What do I say? The truth? Should I add $30k to that figure?

I know they are asking to see what's the lowest they can offer, but I want to know what's the highest they'll go? How do I win this battle?

Should I say something like, "well I'd like to make a salary applicable to the degree and experience I have for this industry, how much does the position pay?"

I have a big interview tomorrow for a job I really want and don't want to low ball myself...so suggestions please!

I like to say the following, after doing some research about the mean salaries of NP's in the geographic area:

"I'd like to make a salary comparable/on par with what NP's in area are making." If they try to get a number out of me I really try to dodge it, and say, it's negotiable. Then, if they low-ball, I don't feel bad asking for more.

Take a look at this thread. There is a lot discussed here. Especially page 4.

If you have time go to Barnes and Noble or Borders and get this book:

If you don't have time look at this synopsis here:

and this webpage here:

Bottom line get them to make the offer. That gives you the power.
