Welp. There will be a new President soon...He has promised to "repeal and replace" Obamacare.

The real question is (as someone who will be out of school and in practice soon) what will happen with our profession? I know with Obamacare, folks were saying NPs will be in high demand. Don't get me wrong, I know NPs will still be in demand, but what do you think it will look like?

We have a Republican president, a Republican House, Senate and Supreme court. The handwringing is appropriate, and while I don't believe in rioting, I'm sympathizing.

Trump didn't even know that his employees didn't get health care under the ACA. I hope he educates himself before taking office, but given his history of spouting off without knowing the facts, I doubt that will happen.

He doesn't have to. Rather, he is to appoint experts to provide counsel.

Here's what Trump had to say about Mexicans:

When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Of course, Trump himself is a serial sexual assaulter.

If they were successful in old Mexico now why would they swim a river or eat sand in covert border crossings? Successful people know how to wait, fill out forms, and follow the law.

Why build a citizenship on a felony?

You are hoping that Trump won't be cold and heartless? When has Trump ever worked for anyone's interests other than his own?

When have we had political leaders not follow their own interests?

Heck, people didn't like Churchill, but they understood his message.

Look at the infatuation people have with Bill and JFK

Trump had a platform? Other than hate, of course. Because it seems to me that he ran on misogyny, racism, xenophobia and all forms of bullying and hatred.

He actually has a reasonable platform to address many concerns of AMERICANS. But you wouldn't know that if you get your news from any of the media outlets.

You would have to see him in person (I did), and read his positions on his website. He has no interest in cutting or managing NP's and PA's. We are a reasonable solution for an already taxed system.

But he is planning on using his business skills to bring insurance companies back to the table to work on solutions that will allow all AMERICANS to have affordable insurance. If you are an immigrant, legal or otherwise, you may be out of luck. Since somewhere around 40% of our dollars go to immigrants, legal or otherwise, who have not paid in, I believe a part of the cost savings plan will start there.

but

mexico does send us a lot of drugs and problems. hes not wrong on that point. and he does say some are good people. So why is there all this uproar about this? Drug cartels are a fact as is crime from mexico.

People need to chill out and give him a chance, hes no angel but who really is, especially in Washington.

Huh? First off, I didn't vote for Mr. Trump. Second, as a registered democrat, I didn't vote based on the personalities of the two candidates but rather their stand on the actual issues. That's the only way I could pick Mrs. Clinton's name on the ballot given her "issues". Finding information on each candidates' platform wasn't easy this election cycle because the media focused too much on each candidates' personality differences and baggage.

Mr. Trump has a stand on healthcare reform and it is aligned with the Republican agenda. None of it says Americans are not entitled to health care - their biggest issue is the individual mandate in the ACA. In a democracy like the US, a country I immigrated to and eventually became a citizen of, you won't always get what you want in an election where your candidate didn't win. I'm at peace with that but I will continue to be vigilant that my voice is heard in future elections.

It is good he is a realist. Probably my favorite thing about him. he knows life is hard and stuff sucks, and does not coat it over with icing and fairy tales and misuse of the word "love"

"love" has turned into a word that basically people use when they want to do things they shouldnt do and if you say anything against it by gawd its hate. Sort of like how in some places your kid can have you arrested if you paddle them because its not showing them love according to over-tolerant people. BLM is just as bad as the KKK but heck if your a cop you cant even arrest a minority person without it going all over the news. Another example is i dont see any "white boy" scholarships, they all go to minories but you do see us white people b1tching about it. African americans have the easiest time of anybody getting into medical school since they have played the race card for so long. Unfortunately asians have the hardest, which makes no sense to me. Probably because they dont sit out there and chew for tears like the NAACP does.

And no im not racist by saying this. its all on our schools admissions statistics paper and scholarship list.

Obama did nothing but make the racial divide worse by inacting reverse discrimination.

I don't even know where to start with this post. Oh wait, I'll start by pointing out that news coverage of police tends to

focus not so much on their arresting black people as the fact that black people have a disturbing tendency to end up DEAD when they have interactions with police.

And paddling your kid is physical abuse. I grew up with spanking and still

don't see how anyone in the 21st century can justify taking a blunt object to a child.

thats why we have kids that are menaces to society since parents cant even punish them any more.

falls into the catagory of people wanting to do whatever they want without repercussions

same goes for police interactions and in light of this being a healthcare forum why patients are allowed to abuse staff in hospitals without any rebuttal.

rights without responsibility leads to a fallen society, hence why this country has a chance at becoming as segregated as the civil war era.

I know what side I will be on. The one with laws, punishment, civil order, and swift retribution for societal undermining action. At least then we wont have to convince those who want anarchy and disallowment of punishment.

I was a cop for a decade in an urban setting. I can attest that violent crime, sans the occasional domestic, occurred exclusively in the ghetto. The complaints always seemed to come from those we arrested the most. It wasn't racism. It was fact. And violent crime will be met with a violent response. Dry up your cry baby river.

I can't tell you how many I've arrested or seen arrested who didn't wind up dead. Your screwy, liberal media reports on those that do - not the other thousand arrested that day that didn't.

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us." That's a quote attributed to George Orwell and misquoted to several others.

How's spanking worse this century than last or four centuries ago? It's not abuse. It's old as time. Spare the rod and spoil the child. I see kids all day messed up because they weren't properly disciplined by failure parents.

The anti cop propaganda supporters should go walk around the ghetto at 2 in the morning. I dare any of them to. If they refuse to do so they defeat their own point. And if they do do it, more than likely they would change their minds.

I could walk down 100 streets at night and more often than not I would probably get mugged in the ghetto. According to the news though cops go on rampages in the ghetto killing ghettothugs for no reason. If that were true the ghetto wouldnt exsist any more.

We all know there are good cops and bad cops but if you remove all the cops like some of the hyper-liberals seem to want to you know what will happen....

The only time i would go to the ghetto if i was in an ER residency. 2 weeks into that and you would be an expert at trauma care. Heck, ive spoken to plenty Er residents and their best rotations are in ghettothugville hospitals, and most those bullets they remove arent from cop guns. They know.
