A nursing instructor of mine was an acute care NP and worked for a practice in the greensburg area. She hated it. She stated if she could do it all over again she would have been a physician assistant because she felt like she got no respect from the docs, and that they often gave her a hard time about her orders (questioning or even ridiculing them). she felt overworked and underpaid, not to mention the fact that she had a very difficult time finding a job in the first place (as an NP). I have plans of eventually becomming an NP but I want to work in pittsburgh. I have done some agency work at Magee and Montifiore hospitals and it has seemed to me that the NPs have respect and there have seemed to be no issues with physicians giving them a hard time with their orders. Can any NPs in the Pittsburgh area let me know what they have experienced?
Thanks!

I'm just starting ACNP classes, but I work with several NPs. They are a vital part of the team, and their opinions are certainly respected and orders are followed. That's at Presby.
