Good day everyone. I am a registered here in the Philippines and working in a Government Hospital here, and presently a headnurse.
I've been working as a nurse since 2011, and it is indeed a fulfilling experience for me especially that my patients really appreciate my work. I am always enthusiastic whenever I am offering my service to every patient. I always make them smile despite the pain they are experiencing. I do believe that if ever i make them smile even just for a while, they tend to forget the pain or discomfort they have. I usually get emotional receiving comments from my patients saying, "you are indeed a good nurse, you always make me smile and i feel a lot better when you do that", "can you just please stay, and be our nurse for the whole 24 hours?", "I am seeing an angel in you", "you are the best nurse i ever had"...and more.
Despite the toxicity I am experiencing during my duty,I am just very thankful for the appreciation i get from my patients. My patients continuously give me the inspiration to be at my best and give the best care they need and deserve.

Sounds like your patients are very fortunate to have you caring for them. But - surely you are doing something more concrete to manage pain... besides smiling? In your role as head nurse, do you have the ability to influence physicians and ask them to increase pain medication?

While not certain of the purpose of your post, I am intrigued by your statement "Despite the toxicity I am experiencing during my duty...."
What does that mean?
