I am currently in the role of a night shift Clinical Director position. I am going to talk with my CNO / director tomorrow about a position as a unit director for a renal floor that our facility is going to open up in the summer.
I am unsure what type of questions to ask. This will be a short discussion for now as she has another meeting but she wanted to talk with me about the position.
What type of questions would you ask?
Did she ask you to meet, or did you ask to meet with her because you are interested in the position?
Are you interested in the position?
I told her I was interested but that was before I knew it was going to be a Renal unit. I asked to discuss the plans for the new unit with her and told her I might be interested in the position based on the plans.
She told me to meet with her tomorrow and she wants to hear my questions.
So you wanted to meet with her to ask her about the unit and position, but you don't know what questions you have?
It's going to be a very short discussion if you don't have any questions in mind. Some that I might ask.
1. Size of the unit.
2. Number and classifications of employees who will be assigned there.
3. Training plans (especially since this is a new unit with services that your facility hasn't offered before)
OP: I have nothing to add other than to write congrats on your initiative to approach a senior leader with your interest. Hopefully if the position is a good fit, he/she will consider you in that new role.
