Nurse Licensure Compact - Florida

Published

Good evening. Just wondering if anyone has recently applied for their multi-state license in Florida? I applied 10/28, and I have not received any updates or communications as of tonight. The website shows that it was last updated by a staff member on the same day (10/28). I did complete my Livescan fingerprints within the last 90 days, so it's my understanding I do not have to redo them, but again, I have not received any communications so I'm not sure if they automatically see that or if I have to request them to access them or something like that. I just don't want to wait around 2 or 3 weeks to find out there is something I should be doing other than waiting :)

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Michelle

Hope a recent FL nurse applicnt can help you---most BON take several weeks to complete application review.

I updated my license to a FL Multistate back in April 2018. It took a bit longer than renewing my FL license, which was done instantly. I would say the compact license took about 2-2.5 weeks total.

Mine is taking quite a bit longer, but there have been a few hiccups along the way (pretty much out of my control). Thanks for the response!

Just to give an update for others dealing with this in the future:

I had my fingerprints done weeks before as part of my Masters program that I'm currently in. It says on the website that if you've had your prints done within the last 90 days, they will accept them, and you won't have to do them again. This was not the case for me, so just to clarify and hopefully save someone the trouble in the future, the prints that are done must be specifically sent to the Board of Nursing. If they are sent to anywhere else (for example, my school), the Board of Nursing will not be able to access them. As a result, I had to pay another $80, and I had to have them redone and sent to the Board.

I finally received a letter (dated two weeks prior) stating that those prints had been rejected due to being illegible, so I had to do a third set of prints. Those have been accepted by the Board as of this past Wednesday, and I still have not gotten my license approved. It's really frustrating since it's now been 48 days since I applied, and I for sure meet all of the requirements, but all I can do is wait.

Hope this helps others going through this process in the future! :)
