Nurse Grad Internship Position

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I just interviewed for a nurse Grad position at a hospital (that I'm praying I get!!), but I have one problem.. I've already started and have worked one week at a dialysis center (which I can't stand!!). I know dialysis isn't for me and knew it all along but it was the only thing I could get to bring income in since my husband got laid off back in october. Everywhere else I interviewed hadn't called me back. :( I know I'm leaving dialysis soon (and I hope very soon!) but not until I have another job locked in place to stay on the safe side. So question is, am I not considered a nurse grad anymore now that I have accepted a position at a dialysis center & have only been in training for 1 week. And if I am no longer considered a nurse grad, would that now make me no longer applicable for the nurse grad position at this hospital. I feel like I made a huge mistake going into dialysis. I realllly feel like I need hospital experience and training to be the foundation of my nursing career. I never wanted to get into a specialty like dialysis and only took the job so we would have some kind of way to pay our bill and no see my family on the streets.

I would just not even mention the dialysis job. You haven't done it long enough that it should disqualify you.

Many programs have different requirements for nursing experience to define new grad. Some may be any nursing experience while others it is less than 6 months or less than one year so it may not exclude you.
