Anyone know of a hospital in texas that is nurse friendly and will have shifts from 11A-11P. I have trouble sleeping at night and I have heard that such shifts exist. Please let me know if there is a place, and if there is, may i please have the number and the person that I should contact. Thanks everyone...

Usually, the only place that has shifts like that is in the ER.

Check CVICU. Usually the first case CABs start coming out around 11. PACU also has 11a-11p shifts.

I know that Seton in Austin has the most flexible hours imaginable.
Take a look @ http://www.seton.org
There are flex plans where you can work during the school year and have off while your kids are on summer vacation and everything inbetween. It's a magnet hospital and has an awesome Shared Governance structure. HTH

I took a look at Seton and it seems like a really nice place... Do you work there Jessica? If you do, let me know how you like it.
I have worked there for 18 months and began as a Clinical Assistant and now I am an RN there. It cannot be beat!!! I LOVE it!!!

What city? Texas is extremely large. Do you speak Spanish?
I don't speak spanish... Is it a requirement?
I live in Dallas. We have many many hospitals and they will probably accomodate your schedule requirements.
Not a requirement to speak Spanish but we have a hugh Spanish Speaking Only Population in Dallas and you will need to learn ways to communicate with your patients. Many hospitals cannot or do not provide interpreters and oddly enough they are never available when you really need them.
The Dallas County Health Department has telephones that can locate interpreters but that can take time which you may not have available to you especially in an emergency. As you go further south in Texas this population increases in size and lack of Spanish will really hamper your ability to provide care for your patients.
Be aware that non-medically trained interpreters can cause confusion and perhaps other emotions such as anger and alarm if they inadequately or incorrectly communicate information to patients.
Contact a nursing recruiter and have them do the work to find a position for you. If you post your resume on a web site such as Monster.Com or HotJobs.com you will receive several calls.
Good Luck!

I'm currently residing in Tennessee. Have graduated from school, but am waiting to take boards within the next few weeks. Was wondering if anyone would know what the requirements are to change license from Tenn. to Tx. as that is my goal to move there as soon as I get boards under my belt. Have spent many years in Arlington, Tx. and have family there, so can't wait to get back! Any info appreciated.
