  1. Hi everyone... I'm in my late 20's, and I am not able to walk or stand for long periods of time. I've had this for about 5-6 years. I've seen a podiatrist who diagnosed me with Planter fasciitis and he said I may or may not fully get better. I left a great job of doing full time QA in an adult home health agency since I had to move to Houston, TX because of my husband's job. I haven't been able to find a full time steady job and bills are really starting to pile up. Because I had my injury so early on my nursing career I don't have much experience on actual floor nursing. I mainly have QA nursing experience since it is an office type of job. I've been searching for a while now for some time of QA job here in Houston or any other job that is nursing but in an office type of situation but when I call they are not hiring and if I find something online I complete the application and submit a resume but I never hear from the company. I don't know what to do anymore. I am thankful that I can walk, but I just can't walk or stand for long (maybe less than 15 mins). I already struggle with depression from my walking/standing limitation. Even grocery shopping is a painful chore. Now I can't find a job, and our family is struggling because I can't find work to help my husband. What do I do??? Sorry for the vent but I don't know where else to go. Here I can vent anonymously and really write down how I feel. Thanks for your time and for allowing me to vent.
  2. Thank you so much for the advice HouTX and RNlvn. I really appreciate it, and I will look into it. =)
  3. Hi everyone. I recently left my wonderful QA home health job and moved to Houston because of my husband's job. I've been looking at many home health agencies and haven't been able to find any QA position. I've also applied in hospitals for nurse auditing or utilization review positions but still have not heard anything. I have an injury which doesn't allow me to walk or stand for long periods of time and QA nursing has been great for me. I've already started to feel very depressed over the lack of work and all the rejections. What other jobs exist in Houston for office nursing? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.
  4. Hi everyone, I have a condition which doesn't allow me to walk without pain (plantar fasciitis). I have had this for years now, and I need advice. Where can I work when I have this problem? I would like to work at a hospital since I would like better health insurance and a retirement plan. I don't know what to do. I get paid very little at my current job now (QA Nurse), and I would like to be able to make more so that I can be dependent on myself. Thanks a lot for listening and for the advice.
  5. If you were a QA nurse would you write a missed visit note knowing that one day you might be called on it? I'm still struggling with this (if I should write a missed visit note or note). Just would like some advice. Thanks.
  6. I also wanted to update this post with a story that one my Co Workers told me. There was a patient that was not seen for two weeks and that patient complained since they were sick at the time. State came to audit and address that patient complaint and it turns out there was a "missed visit" note written by a QA nurse. They questioned the nurse as to why a missed visit was written when the patient was actually home since they were sick at the time. The nurse replied that they wrote the "missed visit" note so that frequency could be met. Apparently that QA nurse got in a lot of trouble. I'm just wondering if a situation like that has happened to anyone?
  7. I work as a QA nurse in Tx for the first time and I am being asked to write "missed visit" notes for the nurses that don't turn in their notes so that the frequency is met and the home health can bill for the cert episode. They say that it's a very common practice for QA nurses to do that. Is that true? Am I risking my license for writting a "missed visit" note? Thanks.
  8. I would love to walk and do clinicals but unfortunately my condition prohibits me and I have to make the most of it...
  9. To answer some questions: I am an ADN RN and currently work in QA. Although I may not be able to do hospital work, I still want to advance my education. I have seen many different types of doctors and still I have the pain. Thanks again for all the advice. Does anyone have a specific name of a school that doesn't require clinical if there are any? Thanks again.
  10. I have pain when I walk. I've been diagnosed with plantaf fasciitis. I'd really like to go to school again but it's hard because of my pain. Does anyone know on where I can get an online BSN that doesn't require any clinical because my condition doesn't allow for much walking. Thanks. And if It's not too much problem, can I ask you all to please pray that I be cured of my painful feet. I'm 24 years old, and I can't walk without pain =(. Thanks again...
  11. Hi again everyone and thanks again for your kind replies. Is this permanent? How do I know if I'm getting better? I would expect that everyday I'll experience some time of relief or gradual reduction of pain, but I don't. It just feels like the same old pain. As if I'm not getting better. Is this normal? Thanks again everyone. Also, whenever I go to a podiatrist they seem to dismiss me because my pain isn't as bad compared to other people who have it but the pain is enough to keep me from walking 12 hour shifts or from walking around in a grocery store. Please help... I need your prayers...
  12. I've gone to a podiatrist. Thanks again for the replies... Will this ever go away though? I've heard that it may be permanent...
  13. Everyone, thanks for your kind responses. I've tried zcoil shoes, birki's (which helps), corral calcium, soy milk, stretching, massages, icing, and now PT. In reponse for the reply to tvccrn. My feet pain isn't enough to warrant the surgery which is very serious and has more adverse effects than good (according to the doctor). So the trade off isn't worth it. Please pray for me... What experiences have you all had? What was worked? Thanks again for your time...
  14. Hi Fellow nurses... I'm a 22 year old female nurse with plantar fasciitis (heel pain) bilateraly. This has prevented me from working in the hospital, grocery shopping, renting videos, etc. I've tried many conservative methods and none are working for me at this point. Now I'm doing Physical therapy, and I think it just got worse. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't want to have surgery because my pain isn't as bad, there isn't even pain upon palpation on my feet. It just hurts when I walk, and walking is a big part of nursing and overall life. My quality of life has just reduced. I'm so depressed... I've had this for 3-4 months now... I'm ready to kill myself...
  15. How do you get an Auditing job for medicare or medicaid? Thanks...
