Is anyone a nurse and a firegfighter? I really would love to try both. I am about to enter nursing school, but I have been riding along with the fire dept. and I love it. If anyone does both, I would love to hear about their experiences.
I was wondering what steps should I take to be an RN as well as a firefighter. Currently I am doing my EMT-B and going through the fire academy. Also I was looking at Excelcior university based out of New York. They have a RN program that you can do if you are a paramedic. Its 18-24 months and accredited the same as a regular university (NLNAC). What do you guys think about that option? And if I was to be a RN/Firefighter what do the schedules and salary look like? I was told that one guy makes 60k as a nurse and about 50 as a firefighter. Full time on both. Is this possible? Any other feeback would be nice as well.... THANKS!

Leave the nurse thing out. You aren't acting under your LPN license at the FD, but under your EMT-B cert. I would sign my FD stuff as Lisa NREMT-P, not Lisa RN NREMT-P.
