Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program USAF

Published

Hello, I am in the Air Force. I recently applied to the 2010 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Progam (NECP). I am waiting for the board results. Anyone else out there as anxious as me?

I emailed Mr. Baker 2 days ago asking him about the public release timeframe. There are many tasks I have to accomplish upon acceptance into the CON for USA. Without knowing for certain if I will get into NECP, I don't know whether or not I should meet their requirements...specially when there's $$ involved (i.e. student orientation fees, background check fees, etc.).

Hi! Thanks for "taking one for the team" and emailing Mr. B; I think most of us are afraid (at least I am) that he is done with us (me) after all of the emails and exceptions he made for me since the volcano delayed my package getting there on time, etc, etc. I know it sucks, but I would say proceed as if you got in to NECP. I can't even tell you how much money I spent on rush transcripts and such for the schools that I applied to! If you already are accepted into a CoN, I would pay for orientation and assume you got in. I am overseas, hence why I don't do that, since for me going to orientation involves leave and a plane ticket back to the states as well. Just my opinion, I really can't see NECP denying people who are already accepted to school since that is the biggest hurdle next to having the prerequisites completed (again, just my opinion). Did Mr. B tell you by chance something more definitive than 5-15 June (5 June is a Saturday!)?

It's been 2 days now and I still have not received an email back from AFPC. Maybe they figure since the public release date is right around the corner, there's really no need to be responding back to any inquiries. I feel the same way you do but I had no choice but to send out an email. I am also contemplating in picking up the phone and making a call...

Ok, so I just got off the phone with AFPC (not Mr. Baker but an individual who works alongside him). I was informed that they still don't know what the timeframe is because the information hasn't gone up to the "SG" yet. Also, apparently that's where it takes the longest for them to bless the results so that they can be forwarded to the bases MPFs (MPSs/FSSs). I guess this is good info because at the present moment, there's no definite date as far as the public release goes.

SG is who does the medical assignments. There is paperwork due back to them from those accepted by 30 June so i'm sure we will know by the 15th. Once we do find ot it will be all down hilll rolling since nursing school is only 2 months away and many have to PCS. Continue hanging in there. On another note....I have to have black shoes for clinicals and I just bought shapeups by sketchers, they are really comfy.

Thanks for all the info regarding the release date. I just have one request from all of you, when the list gets publicly released can someone please copy and paste it in this thread as I will be on leave and not sure how involved my commander will be with attempting to call me if my name is on the list. I see that we are all still on pins and needles (which sucks by the way) but at the same time I guess the comforting thing is knowing that it could be any day now versus a whole month away. Thanks in advance and my prayers are continuously going up for all the applicants. As mentioned earlier, I don't think it is a good thing to be denied by the AF when you have already been accepted by a SON/CON that to me is a huge milestone all in itself. Best wishes to us all!

Yes.....I agree.....PINS and NEEDLES....This waiting is making my 30 days of leave---not so enjoyable......It can't be too much longer......Some of us are awaiting the 10E6 results as well......Atleast we know for a fact that those results will be out on the 17th.:uhoh3:

Well I am in Germany and I just applied too and I wish you all the best. I went in to work today but still nothing ...I was told I would receive email notification since I'm with a Det...but if I get something I will definately post it. Good luck everyone and God Bless. :yeah:

Hi! i am in Germany too (at Spang). Are you applying in conjunction with your DEROS or will you need a curtailment? Just wondering. I put in for an DEROS curtailment exception to policy for education purposes and it got all the way to APFC and they said that I didn't need to put in for one; they said if accepted to NECP they would just curtail me. Definitely a little more involved trying to apply from overseas! Anyway good luck to you (all)! :)

Good morning everyone! I just got a response from AFPC to my email I sent almost a week ago. I am being told the potential release date (via commanders) is 10 June 2010...that's in 3 days! Hope this helps.

OMG...3 days! :I Again thanks for taking one for the team and asking! :) That whole pins and needles thing is more like a "I feel sick" thing for me....

On another note, did anyone have to get special permission to apply to a school that was not within a 60-mile radius of the bedded facility or their current base? I was on the Knowledge Exchange website today looking for anything new (didn't find anything) and I re-opened the NECP guidelines where it said that your school either had to be within 60 miles of your current base or the bedded facility. I think mine is a little further away than that...hope it doesn't make that big of a difference because I didn't ask for permission to go over the 60 miles! :I Now I am worried....

Well that's the thing Kynchanted. I remember reading that rule and I personally emailed Mr. B about it but he said that I didn't need to ask him for permission and that I could apply to virtually any CON university. That's one of the reasons why I picked Univ of S. Alabama because it lies between Keesler and Eglin. It's an hour away from Keesler and 1.5 to 2 hours to Eglin. You definitely make a good point.

Thanks...that makes me feel alot better. I guess I got mixed up when reading all of this before (I have read the guidelines and FAQ's over and over again); I thought that the ROTC detachment part was the most important thing and what made the school eligible, besides the CCNE accreditation and the year-round part. Plus I thought that Univ. of South Florida was closer to Eglin than it is. You do make me feel better; I know there is the chance that I don't get picked up for NECP, but for something like the distance to the bedded facility (4 hours away), that would really be salt in the wound!
