Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

Yeah, I read in the guidelines somewhere that we'd receive an email upon submission, but it looks like that isn't the case for anyone. Good to know that I'm not the only person that was wondering this.

Also, wanted to ask if anyone has received a credit check yet? In the HRSA threads for the previous years, most of the selected applicants said they received a credit check before receiving notifications of being a finalist, etc. I know it still may be too early for notifications but I'm just getting antsy. Lol

Not yet. I've been checking credit karma like crazy. I also read that whenever the HRSA website was down, that notifications were sent out soon after. I know the website was down last night until early this morning, so I've been checking all day, but nothing so far. I really would like to know my fate before September.

In my year(2016) credit checks were on 7/15z. The first round of emails went out on 7/26. But our submission deadline was 5/4 so you guys are still really early!

Same here with checking credit karma!! Yea waiting until September would not be ideal for me. But I did read on another thread that someone knew of a person that wasn't notified that they were chosen for the award until September 30th of that year 0_0

[9/30 is the final day of the cycle. People will be notified either way by that day. I know it's stressful but I suggest relaxing about it and doing what you need to for school. Nothing will speed up the process and it's easy to get sick over it.

Hi FutureNurseEmily,

I had a questions about Nurse Corps.... Lets say a person gets accepted, that person is receiving federal school loans, does the college get paid first by Nurse Corps and then uses federal funds for the balance? If there is monies left over, does the school issue a refund to the student? How does it work exactly?
