Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Published

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

Darn....well thank you for following up on this!

Wow thx for posting the update. I wonder if the deadline will extend the. B/c it's usually the second week of May but I do t see how they could open it in mid April and close it less than a month later. í ½í¸«

Thanks for starting this thread! I am super excited to apply this year, and this will also be my second time around! Very hopeful this year and just like some of you guys stated I will try to get a leg up on some things for this scholarship, so I can make the deadline.

Hi everyone! I am also planning to apply to this year's Nurse corps scholarship. I had a question regarding the different tiers? I will be enrolled at WesternU in California in the Fall for their MSNE program. It's 3 years total - 1.5 years full time before taking the NCLEX, and then 1.5 years part-time distance learning while working as an RN before obtaining the master's. They have a in-house application for their recent alumni students for the post-master's FNP program, which I plan to do, that I've heard is almost an automatic acceptance right after graduation. Does anyone know what tier that would place me in?

Also, how the scholarship/my chances might be affected if I'm in school part-time after the first 1.5 years?

Thanks

I am also waiting for the application to open! Thanks for starting the thread :)

i started a bsn program in August.

Thanks for starting the thread. I am a little confused on the Participant Hospital I am eligible to work at. I would like to locate to NYC or Cali once I received my Master's of CNL from Georgetown but not sure what hospitals are eligible.

(im)patiently waiting for the application cycle to open! I plan to follow this thread! Thank you for posting!

So happy to see your thread, I am waiting to apply as well. I'm starting an ADN program Fall 2018, and I'm paying out of pocket. Hopefully I can receive a Nurse Corps Scholarship.

I'm debating about whether I should apply. I'm starting an ABSN and my EFC is ~$8000. I'm under 24 and my parents' income is factored into it despite the fact they won't be paying a dime towards it.

Does anyone know if I'd just be put behind everyone in tier 1 that has an EFC

Just to add to this thread that the NHSC Scholarship opened on April 10th so those of you who are interested can apply but we are still waiting on Nurse Corp Scholarship which is still closed for 2018. Hopefully it will open soon.

Good luck everyone!

Has anyone heard anything about the application cycle opening?? It's almost May!

I literally check the website every day just to make sure I didn't miss the application opening. I called them earlier this month and the lady said that the application opens for only a short period of time and she did not have a date for when it would be available. Since it's almost May I'm assuming it will open at the beginning of May and only be available for a week since she said a short time frame. Anyway good luck everyone. I am praying I get this because if not I can't afford school. My state has a similar scholarship but I'd be stuck working in Michigan and I really would want to leave this state once I graduate.
