Hi everyone,
I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.
Thanks
I got the finalist email on 8/11, submitted all documents by 8/15, and my contract was signed yesterday! No email or anything - I logged into the portal and viewed my contract, and a new signature had been added. Still waiting on a participant email.
Also, just in case anyone is stressing, they seem pretty willing to work with you if you have issues. I realized AFTER submitting my enrollment verification forms that there was an error on each one, and low-key freaked out. I called the HRSA help line and explained the situation. A day or two later (after the document due date), I got an email from an HRSA employee asking me to mail him the corrected forms. He confirmed that he had received them and thanked me - it didn't seem to cause a problem. Despite their strict attitude toward deadlines, they seem to be understanding of errors if you take the initiative to fix them!
So today I called again because I as well have not received a credit check. The guidelines state that all applicants will receive a credit check. However, the rep told me that applications are randomly pulled. If your application is pulled they will do a credit check while checking all your other specs. She states that all applicants due not get a credit check because it is impossible to get to every application. She states that if you have not received a credit check it means that they have not pulled your application at all. She says there is still time "this season'" and they pull applications daily until the very last day 9/30. Prayers up.

It seems they will basically tell you anything to get you off of the phone. Oh wow! I remember when this all started they said that every single applicant will go through the background check which in reality is impossible for them to do that (financially) and also based on previous years 95% of the people that got the credit check actually got the schlorship. So credit check became the major indicator of being a finalist unless they find something when they do the credit check.
Now they're telling you they review applications randomly every day which is not true b/c majority of us received credit check at the same time 07/24 I haven't seen anybody that had credit check after that. Which means they're basically telling people anything.
While I was waiting for this process I drove my self crazy by calling them to ask questions and getting 10 different answers for the same question.
Plus save yourself from those unnecessary stress and try to dig info online like this board and some other places as well. It seems the call center is totally hopeless.
I hope you end up getting the finalist email. You're in my prayers. I totally understand how this feels.
I received a finalist email a few minutes ago. God is so so so very awesome and the glory belongs to Him and Him alone.
Praise God. So glad you received the scholarship! Hallelujah.
I wish there was more funds to allow more students access to such an amazing benefit.
I wish you well in your studies and pray that you excel in your program and anything you set out to do in service to those in need.
