Nurse Corps Scholarship Program

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has started the application process for the Nurse Corps Scholarship program for the 2014-2015 school year. What are your stats if you don't mind me asking? Mine are EFC 0, from Tx, and GPA of 3.4. I wonder how many applicants will there be for this coming academic year. Feel free to ask any questions as well, we can help each other out.

So while we play the waiting game, what kind of positions are there for the work commitment?

I know its suppose to be for "in-need" areas, but what does that really mean?

Is it just hospitals, or can we be placed anywhere outside of hospitals, i.e. pediatrics, research, LTC, etc?

Do we apply for these places (from a list of options they give us) or do they just tell go work here?

I believe that it is any area that is underserved would qualify for the two year commitment. It can be hospitals, home health aid jobs, federal facilities, etc. You will have to search the facility you wish to work at and see if it is listed as underserved. Entry level MSN student. EFC: 0. GPA: 3.6. Lots of health related volunteer work. Does everyone elses application say "Under Review" ? That's what mine says

I was reading threads of another year and it sounded like people were receiving emails around this time to let them know if they were in the finalist groups...Has anyone received any emails from them yet??

I haven't seen my credit pulled, or received anything either but we should be hearing something soon :). My summer has past by so fast since I am taking two classes I been keeping myself busy.

Nothing on my end. No email, no credit check.

Last year everyone told their "stats" to try to see if there was a trend when they did hear something... It's worth a shot haha...

I am in florida with a 4.0 gpa, 0 EFC and previous volunteer work (non medical) that ended in 2009... It was 8 years of volunteer work.

Nice you have a great shot at getting the scholarship :). Mine is a 3.4 EFC 0 no volunteer work, or experience in medical. I do have management experience but not related to medical.

I think my letters of recommendation were very short and mundane and I don't really know how to do a resume LOL so I hope I did well. I need this scholarship so bad... Or I will be working 2 jobs and going to school.... Not good. I am on my own with no help :(
