Hi Fellow Nurses!
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?
I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.
Is anyone else out there?
Here's my timeline:
- Received my finalist email Aug 30th
- My contract was countersigned September 18th
-Received my welcome packet September 19th
- I received my first monthly payment October 18th
I'm a NP, HRSA score-16, I can't recall my D/I but I was in Tier 1. Good luck to those looking to apply next year, there is hope! Does anyone know if we're eligible to apply for a different program once we complete our contract? I missed the answer to that question during the webinar a few days ago. I will still have $100,000+ in debt unfortunately so wasn't sure if we could still apply for the NHSC program which isn't taxable? Thanks!
not sure if anyone is still following this thread but for RN corps recipients, has anyone refinanced since receiving the award i.e. with SOFI, Earnest, etc.? It sounded like from the webinar and in the welcome documents this should be ok as long as it is only approved loans that are consolidated/refinanced but I wanted to see if anyone has done this yet and if it all worked out. Thanks! and congrats again to those who received the award and keep applying for those who did not, it will eventually work out!
Hi All- Not sure if this thread is still live. But I was wondering if there were any applicants or recipients for the NurseCorps loan repayment who applied with a $0/monthly payment. My debt is so high yet my income this past year was so low that my monthly payment is $0 even though because I'm on an income based loan repayment. Obviously my debt/loan ratio is high and interest is accruing so this $0/month isn't necessarily a good thing--especially if I can't apply for the loan repayment. Thanks so much for any feedback!
