2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Published

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

Ugh!!! I agree psychrn30. This has been the hardest "watch and wait" year ever! I think I'm developing chest pain from the suspense. I want to desperately hope that I still have a chance, but I'm starting to feel like I missed out again... :(

So all the NP's that have accepted have accepted for the NHSC correct? No word from Nurse Corps?

Did you get the award offer for the Nurse Corps also? Just wondering I am starting my post MSN FNP Cert in September, and would be eligible for both but would have to switch jobs of course.

Hi RN4KU, I haven't gotten any award letter or notification to accept an award for Nurse Corps. I also applied there. However, when I accepted the award from NHSC LRP, it automatically drop/declined my application in Nurse Corps. So I guess less competition for other people for Nurse corps LOL. I only have 3 days to accept it, so I just grabbed it and I'd rather get the LRP coz its max award is 50k, and I have about only 45k more to pay for my loan. Nurse corps will only pay 60%. You can apply for both, but can only accept one award.

I got the award acceptance letter for NHSC LRP not the Corps; It automatically dropped me when I accepted it. It still says it is not guaranteed lol so I still don't know how it works

babeebeanie, what is your site HPSA score?

babeebeanie, what is your site HPSA score?

I cnt remember if it's 16 or 17

Also, babeebeanie, may I ask if you filled out the "disadvantaged background" form??

Hmm is that from application? I cant remember them asking about disadvantaged background. Why?

Those that filled out that form with their app got priority. My hpsa score is 16 too and I'm an np so I was thinking if you didn't have the disadvantaged background we are really similar candidates - hoping to hear something soon!

Hopefully enough people will decline Nurse Corps so that the other NPs (myself included) will have a better chance :)

Congrats on your awards!

Still havent gotten it or its not for sure yet i guess, thats why i asked on my previous post, cause it was my first time applying. They still say its not a guarantee and still need the counter signature of the secretary. But im hoping í ½í¸Š.

Have you applied in the past and had it in at a later time? Just wondering if timing of application is that important?

Thank you!
