Any RN JD's out there wanting to share their experiences??? I am seriously considering(i.e. studying for the LSAT) law school and am interestered.
Hello,
Yes, been there, done that. I went to law school in Colorado after working as an RN for 7 years. We have 2 law schools in Colorado (plus it's a popular place for lawyers to relocate to). SO, lots of lawyers, not many jobs (unless you're in the top 5% of your law school class) plus student loans, cut in pay (new attorneys generally don't make as much as RNs) = not such a great career move in retrospect. :smackingf
I worked as an attorney for 4 years and then went back to healthcare (clinical work, administrative work, risk management, medical publishing). The only people I recommend go to law school are those who have wanted to do it since they were small children.
The other major drawback to being a lawyer is that you have to work with other lawyers. It's a major culture/ethics clash as you know RNs are held in high esteem ethically and attorneys are, well you know, down there with used car salesmen on the ethics scale. . . When I had to sue the last attorney I worked with to get paid, I knew it was time to head back to healthcare.

BTW for the administrator and others who read my prior post I have opted against LNC but might take a class just to get back into study mode...after my current travel assignment is up. (I miss Pittsburgh am I crazy)
