I meant to post this on the main nursing board so sorry for the double post.
Hey Guys,
So, I applied for Howard Community College's Fall 2010 evening/weekend program and assumed I would be waitlisted. I was, but was given a number of 7. Recently, I was told that I am now number ONE on the waitlist! So, I am getting super excited about the possibility that I will get in this fall, but at the same time, there is a big chance I won't. It is so hard not to get my hopes up. So I have a whole month for one person to decide to not start the program for whatever reason, or for one of the 6 people ahead of me to decline their seats in the program. My advisor told me the six people ahead of me have until next week to decide. This not knowing is just driving me nuts! They say they will let people into the program off of the waitlist up until one day before classes start! Then I would be a mad rush to get uniforms, supplies, books, immunizations, etc. I suppose I should not complain because at least there is a chance I might slip in.
I guess I just needed to vent and let some of my excitement out!

Good luck Tag, I hope you get in. Can I ask you a question? How many lotteries are held? I want to apply for the Fall 2011 Evening program. I pal non finished the Chem prereq this fall so I was wondring if I should submit my app now or just wait til I am done with that class. Would I have a better chance of getting picked if I submit my app sooner rather then later?
Thanks, and let us know if you get accepted!
Opps I meant "I plan on finishing the Chem prereq this coming fall".
Sorry for the late response Primie! You want to submit you application so that you will be included in the first lottery but as long as you submit it before the deadline, it won't really matter when you submit it and sooner won't help your chances. You just want to hit the deadline for the first lottery! You should check with the school to see when the deadline is.
There are two lotteries that are held....one lottery for the people that will have all of their prereqs finished after the fall semester. They fill up the seats usually with this lottery. Then, they have a second lottery later on for the people who are "spring finishers." From my understanding the majority of these people will end up being waitlisted. I was a "spring finisher" meaning I only finished my chemistry class this last spring semester so I was in the second lottery. I bet if I was able to finish in the fall and was able to apply for the first lottery, I would have gotten in! But, I ended up being number 7 on the waitlist. So, get your application in for the first lottery. I would check in with an advisor though to confirm all of this.
Good luck and keep us posted!
Oh okay thanks Tag. I will surely submit my app as soon as possible. Any info on your waitlist status? Sorry can't pm because i haven't posted enough.

After reading this post...I think I know who you are tag! LOLOL
lol! Hi Bikerdude! You can't leave me hanging like that. Now you have to tell me how?
Still nothing!! I am starting to feel a bit discouraged about starting this fall. It's okay. If I don't get in, I will be patient and wait my turn. :)
We had dinner and drinks together....!
Sorry to hear that Tag. I am sure the wait will go by fast. Goodluck!
Thanks Primie. I will be patient and find other things to keep me busy! Maybe we will end up in the same class together! Keep me posted on when you apply!
Oh...you...! Why didn't you ever call? I thought we had a great time. LOL
Totally joking... I am still *kind of stumped. You either have the wrong person, a very nice imagination or just like confusing people.
