Hi all! I was wondering if someone could shed some light on the hiring process at NSLIJ. I applied online for a position on 6/25 & was called on 7/9 by a nurse recruiter. We spoke for a few minutes about the position and she also asked me a few questions. She then set up an interview to meet the Director of the department that same Friday (7/11). I feel like the interview went well & ran pretty long (I'd say about 40 minutes), and at the end, the Director gave me her card & told me that she promised to be in touch. She also told me to make sure to send my references to the nurse recruiter that I spoke to. She took the time to walk me out of the office, and then we shook hands, & I once again thanked her for taking the time for meeting with me.
The next morning, I made sure to put a thank you card in the mail for her. On Monday, I sent my references to the recruiter as requested. The recruiter then contacted me & told me that she had to send me a link where I would then have to enter my reference information. The 5 references will then be sent an email with a link, which will enable them to fill out a survey about me. I completed this on Monday & all of my references completed their surveys by Thursday. I did email the nurse recruiter in between, on Wednesday, just to follow up & see what the next steps were. She responded that she will contact me back once all of my references came back.
The waiting is the worst part of this process. I want this position SO bad.. & every day, I find myself staring at my phone or constantly checking my email just waiting for a response.
Has anyone had an experience where they were asked for references & then offered a job shortly after? Does reference checking pretty much mean that I got the job? I'm not sure what the next step would be. Usually, a first interview would be with HR or a recruiter & then a 2nd would be with the director or manager of the department. Since I went on my first interview with the director of the department, would I just get an offer? If anyone has any information about their hiring process or just their experiences, that would be great! I'm trying to stay positive!!!!
Sorry for the lengthy post.
