In my experience, the NPI is the easiest and quickest part of starting that first job as an NP. Your employer should do it for you and it is a quick easy process,...credentialing on the other hand is painful. My point here is don't mess with it, let your employer do and pay for it! Congratulations on your new journey!!

You can get an NPI with RN and then change it to NP later - I had an NPI as RN (we billed for some RN services) and updated my NPI with new employer and new role information. I couldn't get the online update to work but I printed out the paper application and my information was updated with in a week or so - so not a big deal.

HI,
I'm a brand new NP. (Adult/Gero Primary Care). I was told through faculty at my school I could apply for my NPI number, but in the process of the application, it asks for a Practice Location address. It won't let me leave it blank, and I don't think I should put my home address on there, can I? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
