Hey all! ?
My name is Alex. I've been a nurse for 5 years with experience in Adult Med-Surg, Postpartum/Antepartum, and Neonatal/Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care. I am planning to continue my education as an NP, particularly FNP. However, I'm seeking some advice regarding choosing a specialty. I'm not entirely certain what field of healthcare I want to end up in, which is why I initially chose FNP.
If I do FNP, is that limiting? Or is it the best option with the most opportunity. As an FNP, does the opportunity exist to specialize later? Thanks so much for your input! ☺️

You need to ask yourself if you want to do acute care or outpatient. If the answer is acute care then you need an ACNP. If the answer is outpatient...the answer is FNP which will give the most options

I am an ACNP, I have no idea how to do primary care so obviously I don't venture there. FNPs are basically not hired in hospitals anymore unless you have a ton of NP inpatient experience. RN experience doesn't count.
