Can you please share your opinions about np residency and salaries....
1. How much more can one expect to make after doing a residency?
2. Can one bill the same rate as a physician after doing a residency?
3. How long are these residencies usually?
4. Which residency would you say gives you the most advantage (jump) salary-wise, and how long would it have taken without doing a residency?
Many thanks in advance for your kind help in this matter.

You don't have to but I did. I STRONGLY recommend one. Problem is, there aren't many and they are very very competitive. I am talking a couple hundred applicants for 1-2 spots...

Here is a link example: (2017) Old so I would individually check each link, also use Google well. I found programs not listed when I was looking. Lots of programs come and go depending on the budget for hospitals.

I did acute care and made about 65kish for my 1 year. Most programs are 1 year in general. Working with residents and attendings for days and days on made me realize how garbage NP education is.

Why would you say NP education is not so good, please?

Easy. The lack of clinical hours, piss poor accreditation oversight and low barrier to entry has gutted any legitimacy of NP programs. ANY RN with a BSN and a pulse can find some NP school to accept them. That's not how you build a profession. It was almost embarrassing telling my attendings that I went to school partially online and had 700 clinical hours compared to their 12-15 with med school + residency. You can't even compare...

But aren't higher ranked schools, better at delivering a quality education?
Also, % wise how much do NPs know compared to MDs?

NP school rankings don't matter if you look at the nuts and bolts of how they compile the rankings. I would say in general, an on campus program with a well known rep (JHU, Penn etc) might be better quality.
That's a difficult question to ask. But I would honestly say in the range range of 10-20% considering NPs rely on mostly practical/clinical knowledge. Our education is woefully inadequate when you look at the foundations of medicine (anatomy, biochem etc)

I am just curious, I will go to NP school this fall with face-to-face classes. Do you have to go through NP residency after school?
