Hi all, I'm an NP in recovery and a monitoring program. I have many RNs in my support network, however I would love to find another nurse practitioner who's been through something similar I can identify with. If you're out there please drop me a line!!

It looks like Joey hasn’t visited this site in almost 3 years. Not sure if y’all get an answer back.

What state are you in? I am or was a licensed NP in CA an AZ. I need some advise/help on finding a job as an RN in AZ now while in recovery. I have gone thru hell with the Calif BRN and happy to help others on what to expect.

Hi Suz9081,
I'm also an NP in recovery. I live in NM but was originally licensed in Cali, which has revoked my license. I worked as a nurse for a while and have recently become licensed as an NP again and am looking for work. I was able to get back into nursing despite a felony by applying at nursing homes and home health agencies. I'm always very upfront about my past and how, despite how horrid it was, it made me a better person.

I finished my FNP a year ago. The stress of working full-time, supporting my family, and going to school full-time is basically how I ended up getting into trouble. I am now just entering the monitoring program so I will unlikely ever get to even practice as an NP. It saddens me that I worked so hard and put my family through hell and for what?! I'm thankful though I at least have a job and am trying to stay positive that God has something else planned for me.

Have you found employment yet as a NP while being in the monitoring program?
