NP new grad Pay question

Published

Hi guys. I am in my last semester of NP school at united states university.  My specialty is FNP. So what kind of pay should I expect as starting in the state of Minnesota? I have 2 years of RN experience. I am a foreign medical doctor with 9 years of experience in urgent cares, in hospital and outpatients.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

You went to a for-profit diploma mill so who knows how easy it will even be to get a job. You're not going to be able to negotiate a high salary like people who went to reputable schools.

Well, my experience and background knowledge as a medical doctor is way more than even the senior most nurse practitioners from Yale or Columbia.I was asking from that perspective.

Specializes in Emergency (CEN) and Critical Care (CCRN-CMC)_SRNA.

A new FNP is a new FNP regardless of prior experience as a foreign physician. That's a common finding on this website even more so for an experienced RN (think 10 years at the bedside in a comparable specialty) who then come to find out that their experience doesn't qualify them for a higher starting salary.

Expect to start at 100-120K/year. You might have wiggle room but hiring employers have a dime a dozen applicants who will take a lower salary for the experience to move on to better pastures after a year.

Looks like you went to one that doesn't require basic grammar skills?
