NP/DNP in Dermatology?

I always thought that the purpose of getting an NP/DNP was to fill the void of primary care in rural areas that are underserved. How does working in a dermatology office benefit our society; it isn't like there is a dire need for more dermatologist assistants. It just seems like these kind of programs go against what the leaders in the DNP movement say their purpose truly is ("we're not encroaching upon physicians, we're filling the void")

Specializes in FNP.

I can't see a dermatologist paying 100k a year for someone they don't need. That leads me to conclude that there is a void there that NPs fill.

So I see no problem with either NPs or DNPs in derm, even though this link makes absolutely no comment on DNPs and seems a totally unrelated rant.

Yeah it was never about filling the void in primary care. It has always been about money and power.

The DNP movement was 100% political

So how can you become an APN of dermatology? I was thinking of heading down that road, not much info out there on it. Thanks in advance.
