Hi, wondering if anyone out there can help me! I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and looking to open my own medical spa to do Botox and fillers. Can I do that independently in Illinois? I have a possible medical director but everything I have researched states the MD has to OWN the practice. Is this true?
Thank you for you for your time!!

Illinois is not a full practice state (yet). You will need to have some type of collective agreement with a physician in order to treat patients in this state. As far as the MD owning the practice, this I do not know. I would think you could own it and have a MD on board for what you need them for. You'll have to look into what your BON states. Good luck!

It is not required that the MD own the practice in IL. I know of a FNP who was able to buy the practice she worked at when the MD retired & she hired another MD (who has his own practice) to meet state requirements.
Rainmom - Do you know how she filed with IDFPR? For a medical practice it needs to be owned by a physician 100%. Just wondering what she filed under so I could follow the same. I want to be as legal as possible :) thank you!!!!
