Nova Southeastern Winter 2015 - Entry Level BSN

I haven't found any threads on the upcoming NSU Winter 2015 entering class so here it is.. Does anyone know when they will start calling for interviews? I know the final day to send in apps is Oct 1st so I'm assuming they'll start doing interviews close to that time? Talk about a forever wait! Anyway, I'd love to talk to others in the same boat or anyone who's gone through this recently and can offer any advice.

To those who applied for the Baptist scholarship, have you checked your emails? They have sent out an update... :(

What type of update?? Please Mike share....

I am assuming if you provided them with an email, or perhaps emailed them your application instead of via mail, they are going to update you on your decision in the same manner. At least if its that you have been denied, because I was :(

If you have not received an email regarding your decision, perhaps there is still a chance of you being chosen!

I received an email saying that they denied my application. What other options you know? Do you have any info? Can I email you?

I received my email from Baptist today and I also got denied. I feel like crying. I'm going to graduate with debt.

Just know that like you and I, many have gone through this. Unfortunately Baptist cannot guarantee a scholarship to all of us nursing students, as it is only an opportunity they can offer but not promise. It is extremely heartbreaking; I have had the worst of days today upon receiving the bad news, and have no shame in admitting I have spent most of it crying. I had been denied the first time from Nova and upon my second time applying, and also as a volunteer for Baptist Health South Florida for the past two years, there was nothing I cared about as much as winning this scholarship and continuing to represent this amazing facility as a staff member. To me, being accepted into Nova did not mean much knowing I would not join part of the Baptist cohort. It is solely the reason why I possessed so much interest in Nova in the first place and why I decided to become affiliated with Baptist two years ago; a vision and a plan I've had for so long. I have submitted letters of recommendations from nurses whom I've had the pleasure to work with along my journey to feel as if none of these efforts were enough. Well let me tell you something that my friends have helped me realize today as part of my mourning process: it does not mean everything, it is not the end of the world, and it is surely not going to make a difference in our potential as RN's in the future. YES it really sucks that we are going to graduate with debt, YES it sucks that we will not hold a contract with a hospital as soon as we graduate, and YES it sucks to simply feel that we weren't good enough. Let me just remind us that out of the 20 applicants they interviewed for the scholarship for the WINTER 2015 semester, they only chose 5. THAT IS TOUGH. Upon hearing that (my friends in the program spoke to their professor/one of the directors of the scholars program) we should be grateful we even got a chance to be interviewed. The chance we got, was something not even Baptist knew they could do! We were specifically told in our interviews for Nova that they had chosen their students for the year-round. No one reached out to us about the last minute space in the scholars program. We have achieved the main goal here: becoming accepted to a good nursing program. Graduating with our BSN is really what matters most. I know this won't make you guys feel any better, because surely I have not stopped thinking about not even for a minute myself, but it is a truth we must be thankful for.

I am interested in knowing what you guys plan to do at this point? What is your plan B, because I definitely don't have one but to take out loans! I hope you do not feel discouraged to begin in the Winter because of this, for this is how I felt and my friends quickly talked me out of it.

I have a question in regards to the background check... Once you pay the $200 deposit was an email sent to you with a pin? I still havent received anything :/

Hi guys! Stephanie here checking in and what not.... I'm sorry to hear about those of you that applied for the scholarship and was denied.... but don't lose hop check nova's websites, I'm sure you guys can find other forms of funding, you just really have to take one day out of your life to actually look and apply for them! NSU Scholarships Information hopefully you guys applied to FAFSA and will get to see some of that as well. Yes you'll get an email and you VIP page will update with the pin as well but I think it takes two days after the deposit is paid for that to happen.
