Nova Southeastern University BSN Entry Level Fall 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

So I guess im the first to start the thread for Nova's Fall 2014 admissions. I put in my application about 2 weeks ago, and actually did my prereqs here as well. I am still in the process of completing Micro and A&P 2. I am VERY nervous about the admission process because my GPA is not as high as what im seeing on this site.

Thoughts?

I also got the baptist scholarship :) I'M SO EXCITED FOR FALL!

Has anyone purchased uniforms? If so, did you buy them from nova or did you go somewhere cheaper?

I was just going to get them at Nova. Seems easier then buying elsewhere then going elsewhere for embroidery. Although Uniform Advantage has the very comfortable scrubs. Butter something.

I got accepted into the main campus too!!! so excited! Congrats guys!

So excited!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to meet all you guys............... We also have a group on facebook... Nova Southeastern University Nursing Fall 2014

I will be applying for the nursing program in the fall for winter. I was reading online through Nova website that the Baptist scholarship is for fall applicant, is that true? Also how soon do you know you are accepted? any one knows what the classes are like for the summer, is it 12 credit or more?

Thank you so much for your replies.

@the fentz, when did you applied for the Baptist scholarship and how soon you knew you were accepted. Is everything covered?

If you are asking me I have no idea. I never applied for the scholarship. I'm using my GI Bill to fund my BSN.

@[COLOR=#003366]VJuarez3 , how does the scholarship works, the interview process. I need to clarify if you can also apply for the scholarship for the winter because the website say fall applicants only.

The scholarship works by paying 100% of your tuition, not including books or uniforms. You will need a good GPA with your most recent transcript, 2 recommendations, a personal essay statement, and a professional resume. They will then schedule you for a panel interview consisting of 5 interviewers asking you a series of questions. Once you have finished school you will then agree to work for 3 years at one of the Baptist hospitals pending a successful interview (you are not "guaranteed" a job) If you do not land a job or decide you want to work elsewhere, you will need to pay the scholarship back, though I wouldn't be concerned with that because of the investment they place in you, it would take a really bad interview for them not to hire you.

This was the only year they allowed the winter class to take advantage of the scholarship however, this was done for those who had applied for the fall semester. Baptist had a high turnover this year and decided to have 40 more students defer to the winter term. I don't think you can apply for the scholarship now for the winter (January) of 2015 since they took in their max of 40/class. You had to have applied prior to June 15th I believe for the scholarship. My advice is to call Nova and speak to someone in the Nursing department directly as well as the Baptist scholars department 786-596-4194.

Good luck to you!

@gui0312,Thank you.

Hi everyone, this thread is full of great info; I love it! I have a question for those who applied for the Baptist Scholarship. Does anyone know if there is a minimum GPA, or more specifically, of the students who got accepted, what was your GPA? I apologize if this is too personal, however, I am still taking some pre-req's for NSU, and if I do in fact need to focus a lot on raising my GPA, I will take these next two semesters to do so. Also, I am assuming by the name "personal essay", that we are required to write an essay solely about ourselves. Would this assumption be correct? Any other info you can share would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you all in advance for your help.

As far as required GPA, there isn't one like when you apply to Nova or any other school. The higher your GPA is the better obviously, also the personal essay is about why you would like to pursue or what led you to pursue this career etc. if you want to PM me I could give you more detailed info. on the stats I had.

gui0312, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I think the willingness to help others is an obvious quality of a good nurse. I will PM you as you suggested. Thanks again!
