I have been working towards this for so long i dont want to turn anything down but am afraid that the program will be too tough with all my other responsibilities at home. What do es anyone think?????
I was also wondering lets say i start and then i get an acceptance letter from BCC for January will i be allowed to leave without any reprucussions. if anyone knows what my chances are of getting into BCC? Im afraid to turn down Nova and then get turned down from BCC.Also i am so scared of that advanced anatomy class it was a struggle at Miami dade im sure it will be a struggle at Nova. Please any advice

girl! PM me your phone number because we need to talk!
we almost have the same story except that at the time I did not have kids.
I was rejected from MDC 5x then accepted to NOVA then failed the A&P then accepted to BCC and was successfull there and now I am an RN.
Nova is a great school.
When I was there, there were tons of students with families- husbands, small kids, older in age---- but most of them made it to the end.
They really try to help you out in that school, there is tutoring available *at cost$$* excep writing you can get help from student services.
but it is really worth it.
congrats for getting accepted to a great school.
I assure you that you will love it there.
just work hard and do what you have to do.
you are in a way better school than MDC will ever be.
you need to change your frown upside down.
Nova is an amazing school. The training and education you will get there is absolutely phenomenal.
Thank you so much for your help. I am just so stressed i dont want to take on too much. I was reading your inputs and we sound so alike i barely made it through my anatomy 1 and 2 i cant imagine the one at Nova. Did you apply to BCC after you left Nova or before? Did you ever go back for your bachelors? I really want to go to BCC the time frame is so much better for me with all my kids but i cant apply till August one and wont get an answer till November. I hav eso many issues with Nova that are making me worried first the cost i am a mother of three who barely makes it by some months, i havnt even gone to see the financial aid office yet and i dont want to sign a contract with baptist and have to go to Kendall everyday. I dont know if i can get all the money and i am afraid to take out all that money then fail. I am so dedicated to this but i am just trying to find the best route. You had a baby while in BCC and you were able to do it with an infant at home? I have so many questions for you what does PM mean i would love to talk. Thank you so much for your help. What hospital are you working at now?
21 Questions? LOL
pm is private message. you can do that by clicking on my sn I will send you one first.
I had the baby and a month later I was in OB/GYN clinicals.
Advanced A&P was very difficult for me. Because like when I took it at miami dade college, it was straight up memory--- which is something I am not good at.
so I ende up with a 63% at the end.
The other classes are pretty easy to handle, a computer class, writing class, nursing theory and advanced A&P lab. They are pretty straight forward- there are papers to write, classroom projects to present in class--- normal college work.
I was already on the waiting list at BCC- and eventhough I was in NOVA, I kept my name on a waiting list and never got off it.
So the last day of NOVA when I failed A&P-- I got my letter via email from BCC--- it was the saddest & happiest days of my life. A second chance at nursing but a failure to continue in a BSN program.
Out of 50 people only 5 of us failed that first semester.
I can honestly tell you- that I have no idea why I failed. I studied really hard- I spent so much time at the library and would come home at 8 or 9pm, then I would also pay for tutoring from one of the medical students---- I had classmates try to help me out--- I read the book, did my own notes---- and one time I studied like a mad woman--- and I did worst on my test than when I didn't put in as much time!!!!!!
So when I got the acceptance to BCC-- I knew that was my last chance- If I failed at that-- then I knew that RN in my future was not meant to be.
And I got pregnant like a month before starting BCC--- another obstacle--- or so I thought at that time... but with tons of family support-- I was able to make it all the way---- even my classmates gave me a beautiful baby shower with tons of gifts for my baby.
Save $5K for the first semester at NOVA--- and give them a chance. But apply to BCC just in case--- If you end up getting accepted at BCC then great!! if you qualify for financial aid then you wont pay a dime... and if you don't.. the program costs almost $2-3K....... which is a lot less than NOVA. then turn NOVA down.
It is doable going to nursing schools and having a family. But you do have to have a strong support system.
I am starting my RN-BSN program, hopefully at FIU in the fall.
but if I don't its ok. I only get a $0.50 cent raise when I get my BSN--- so I am in no rush rush to start the program!!
Thanks again for all your help and for being so open and honest with me. My plan is to start at Nova but at the same time apply to BCC if Nova works out great but if not at least i will have another chance with BCC if i get in. I would rather do the BCC program just because i would be done faster and not put my family through too much. But i dont really know how it works whether i will really be accepted at BCC there are no guarantees there but Nova has given me that. So i will try my hardest and hopefully everything will be ok. The worst fear of mine is really that advanced Aand P class because i am the same like you straight memory is very hard for me. Hopefully it wont be so bad. If you do not mind me asking what was your GPA when you got accepted and did the classes that you took at Nova transfer at all to BCC? The nursing classes? BCC didnt mind that you had already dropped out of another nusing program?
Nova credits do not transfer to BCC due to the reason that it is a bachelor's degree program---
therefore- I keep them for the RN-BSN program.
Nursing process1&2 are very different from Nova's nursing as a scholar & nursing as a proffessional. Nursing as a scholar is a class that teaches you basically how to use the computer! you learn (re-learn) how to use power point, send e-mail---- then the nursing as a professional they teach you the first theory from a nursing theorist named "newman" and you learn everything about the "newman's systems model". The writing class is an extra writing they make you take-- not required at FIU if you have ENC1101&ENC1102.
I think that NOVa they make you take a bunch of extra classes for the $$$ because they only require 33 credits before starting the program.
at FIU to be in the RN program they require 60.
Mind you- you will have to take nutrition in the nova program-- even if you already took nutrition for your AA at a community college. You have the option of taking the CLEP exam for the nutrition-- but to me nutrition is very hard so I would of just taken the class over again at nova.
So when I started BCC- I didnt' even send them my transcrips because first of all- they do not count towards the program at BCC.
Second- I was not going into another BSN program.
Third- I did not fail a nursing class- it was advanced A&P- nothing to do with a required bcc nursing program course.
when I started at nova my GPA was a 3.3
BCC rules are that if you fail a nursing course in their program you have one more chance, then if you fail a second time- anytime thru the program- you fail out and will have to come back as an LPN.
There is nothing against failing a non-nursing course from a university level.
but if you are at NOVA and you fail and come back- the same rule applies. A&P is part of NOVA's program--- not BCC's.
Let's say I was in the middle of NOVA and I failed a second time-- then I would have to get LPN then apply to a community college and start again from whatever credit they would accept------- I've never known anyone that has done that--- and God willing that doesn't happen to anyone.
I know my friend told me about 2 girls in the program that the situation above happened to them--- she doesn't keep in touch with them---so I have no idea what they ended up doing... very sad situation to be.
I think it's a good idea that you will apply for BCC as well in the fall. It is faster and cheaper.
It's not to be negative-- or say that you will not make it at nova-- but it's always a good idea to have a backup just in case anything happens.
If I would of said "no" to bcc when I was just starting NOVA--- I do know not what I would have done. I would of failed NOVA-- & would be obligated to take that A&P class again-- and IDK if I would of failed again then be out of nova & no BCC.
now they do not have waiting lists at BCC which is really good
ok thanks for the info so the money that i dish out for Nova will not go towards BCC but can be applied to my Bachelors program when i decide to go back. I have to send them a check by the 16th for 500 dollars to hold my spot then they want another check of 500 by the 30th. I really need to get enough loans to cover the whole thing and i dont know if ill be able to im afraid that i will loose my 1000 dollars. I have to depend fully on the loans for the whole thing.
Again thank you so much for all your help, you have been extremely helpful. Ill kjeep you updated on how it goes. Thanks again cant wait to be in your place.
