Not sure what im doing wrong!!

I work at a nursing home where i have about 46-48 residents. 4-5 of them need bp/ap taken for meds and 6 of them are diabetics. One is a gtube. So it takes time to do those things. I have a few hours to get it done but i seems like i cant get it. Others get it done early and i so not see how. And sometimes we have to do treatments in between to. I dont believe im cut out for nursing home setting but its all that ia hiring. No matter how much i read, and study my nursing books it doesnt helpe much.

What am i doimg wrong

My first job as a nurse was at a nursing home. 36 clients. Alzheimer's. I was there 3 months. It wasn't for me. The irony is not lost on me that the state closed that place lol.

Nothing wrong with saying this isn't for me. I'm in home care now. Been here 10 years. It's my thing.

As for what you are doing wrong.... nothing

I do have a question because....how long have you been there. Will your experience let you move on?

I'm in home care as well. Tried nursing homes and they are never adequately staffed. I would start applying for other jobs, they are out there, you just need to look.

Been there since October of 2015,and currently still there. I was working both days and Second. Second shift is what was getting to me.7 months I've been there and I'm still not as "fast" as some and not as "smart" as others.

I felt the same way my first job. I was so overwhelmed I quit after about 3 months. I was always 2-3 hrs past my shift. Imho, 50 residents is far too many for 1 nurse, a new grad at that...so I'm trying again, I was reassured that I wouldn't have as many residents, but we'll see. Good luck to you :)
