Hi everyone
I'm just looking for a little bit of advice/opinions. I am currently working in the pharmaceutical field with no where else to go, so I've been thinking of a career change. I recently graduated with a BS in Health Science with the goal of attending the MGH nursing program in Boston, however the bills have piled up and it would be impossible for me to quit my job to attend full time. So I've been thinking about a part time LPN program. From what I've read, nursing/LPN school is tough! Math is the absolute worst for me... that is one thing I am terrified of! If anyone could offer some advice... or even an insight to what a LPN program is like. I would much appreciate it!
(Also, just a side question for anyone who has worked as or with a operating room assistant... what's that like, I've been thinking of applying for a position). Thanks!

I really wanted to be a nurse. The way they kept changing things here in Oregon they made it so hard to get directly into an RN program so I decided to go the LPN route. After the new year I'm going to take a few classes that I am missing and going to do an LPN to RN bridge program.
As for the LPN program, it was really hard, but at the same time tought me what I needed to know and what I needed to do in order to pass my NCLEX. I feel that if you do go the LPN way and then later do a bridge program I think you will be happy.
I suck at math as well. Don't worry. Plus it didn't stop me. You will learn the math. They have you do so many it gets to the point where it is second nature.
My two cents:

Make friends in class and you guys help each other

Been in LPN class since May. It is very tough, but worth it. Just know, if you decide to go for it, for a year, your life must revolve around school. And dont worry about the Math. If you can add, sub, multiply, divide, and the Metric System then you got it. It is really just a matter of learning the formulas. My school does Dimentional Analyis instead of regular dosage calc. It is so much easier.
