Well tell us what your actual thought patterns have been lately. Are you scared? Intimidated? Do you really want to be a nurse? What are the things that are making you second guess yourself?
Ok its like this, I've been feeling worried abut the teasv exam. I've been thinking 2 years of school is a long time go go back to school. I feel like I won't finish the program. So I was going to go for LPN instead. trying to take the short route. i feel like i can't do RN school. I'm 32 and I work at mcdonalds.
Excuses excuses!!!!! lol Just kidding. Listen I was FREAKED about the TEAS exam. I am terrible in math and just knowing that test was the determining factor of getting into the RN program just had my stomach in knots. But I passed and completed my RN.
Two years is nothing, especially in nursing school. You will have so much work to do all the time, everyday, that you wouldn't even be paying attention to the years you have to complete. And a healthy fear of not passing the program is normal. Every quarter I thought I was going to fail. I would be like 'Okay this is it! It was nice meeting all of you' lol
But if you really want your RN go for it. LPN isn't any easier, it isn't as intensive but I failed out of a LPN program years ago because I sucked in math (pharmacology). I am not trying to scare you but I am just giving you perspective. I am not trying to demean LPN's but as more time goes on, hospitals and even nursing homes wants RN's.
And about your age, there was a lady in my class with two kids and she was close to 50 years old (she was top of the class), so you have no excuse!
Go for it!
I want to thank you for all of your great and helpful advice. I can do it.

Yes, you can do it...if you want it bad enough. I graduated at age 44 with 4 kids and worked full time thru the first year.
The oldest in my class was 60. She had to take a semester off because she had breast cancer, but returned after her chemo/radiation treatments and graduated a semester later than the rest of us.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
Go for it!!!
Thank you julz68 for your advice. I needed to hear that.
Good to hear!!

I once was told the most powerful control of our life is fear. It can dictate decisions and hold us back from what we want. Find what evokes fear in you and find a solution for it. You got it, good luck!
