Northwestern montana is so beautiful.

Published

I have visited NW montana 2 times (in the summer). It is so beautiful. I honestly felt like I was living in a fantasy because the beauty is unbelievable. I'm just wondering what the avg., exp., med-surg, RN makes. Is the cost of living comparable to a RN's salary? How do you deal with the winters? Do you just get used to it?

It is beautiful. When we moved from WA state to WI we traveled through Montana. I almost wanted to stay and homestead. That was 9 years ago and we're looking to move again... Montana came to mind. I'd like to know about the wages and cost of living in this area also.

as far as the weather goes. you just get used to it and the winter sports are awesome!

I'm from MT born and raised, I worked at St. Patricks hospital in Missoula( the second biggest city in MT) for 2 yrs before becoming a traveler. Missoula is expensive(for MT) the avg home is $180,000 and nurses make $45,000-50,000/yr. Great Falls( the third biggest city in MT) is in Central MT avg cost of house is $140,000 and the pay is very comparable to Missoula. Hope this helps.

The best way to deal with a harsh Montana winter is to count the number of California plates heading back south.

I live in Missoula, MT and it IS very expensive to live here. I make $20/hr working in a LTC. I came from Butte a year ago and I would say that housing is about half there compared to Missoula and it's only 120 miles away. Missoula has a lot to offer. I hear that nurses make about $21-$23/hr at the hospitals. I'm not positive that's true or not. As for winters...I came from Minnesota 25 years ago. Winters here are not that bad. You just have to learn to drive on ice and snow. Get snow tires and take it easy.

I used to live in Coram, up by Glacier. Now I live in IL. :uhoh21: Someday Ill return!
