Northwest Ohio Nurses please read

I got a call from a person at St. Vincents Medical Center asking me all kinds of questions why I left. Before I joined this club I had accepted a job on the palliative care unit. I went through orientation and was on the floor one day and they shut down the unit for a month. Opened and I worked two days then it happened again. I could not work like that.

The person who called me said high numbers of nurses are leaving Vs. I worked there before for over six years.

Does anyone work at Vs and could shedd light on this? I told them the truth. She thought it was terrible. If you do work at Vs my inlaw volunteer there and you probably know them.

I guess I'm just confused as to why someone is calling you well after you left to ask you why? Who was this person?

V's is an entity all their own. What I hear on my end is that they don't like the union.

This person said she was working with Vs Human Resources Department to find out why people are leaving and she did a survey.

Yes they are union. Hmm. Should be interesting to see if anyone here works at Vs.

Yes, I remember when they were fighting for, and won, union representation.

No one here works at V's. I don't know anyone on this board in my immediate area that works there, unless they're a lurker.

I think if she was asking questions, you could have asked her what the general concensus of her answers have been?

Thanks Cheryl and Heather for responding. I did not think about asking her what her findings were. I was just shocked to get a call one year after I was there.

Was it an "exit interview"? I've had them before in previous jobs(not nursing) where the employer calls to ask what you liked and disliked about the position and why you left. I guess they use the info. to increase retention rates and decrease turnover.

Exit interviews are generally at the time of resignation, not a year later, in my experience.

NO it was not an exit interview. She said masses of nurses were leaving the hospital and they were calling nurses to find out why. I thought it was odd too especially on a Sunday afternoon.

I work for a sister hospital to St. V's. and yesterday at work, the girls were discussing all the 'trouble' at V's. I'll see if I can find anything else out, I was busy at the time with a patient just admitted who was having a brain stem infarct so didn't have time to get the goods, but I will and let you know. And yes, they are union, we are not but "rumblings" are taking place.

Heather, we discussed a LONG time ago the fact that we work for competitive hospitals.... I work for the one that has billboards around Toledo..."CARE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN"
