once I received the virtual interview all the fellowships I applied for went to unde consideration.

If you don't mind sharing, do you have prior experience, and what magic trick did you use in your resume and cover letter?

haha literally nothing. I'm a new grad. I graduated in May and passed boards in August. My GPA is a 3.5 and I currently work as a medical assistant for the past year. Literally nothing else LOL. I did not even send in a cover letter LOL.  it's so competitive I doubt I would even be called for a second interview

Thank you so much💖. It's incredibly competitive, and I'm starting to lose hope. I've tailored my resume and cover letter for each fellowship, have prior PCT experience (non hospital), and a 3.8 GPA.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I've also tailored my resume/cover letter & I've had no luck. I am an RN of 2 years, LPN of 2 years with 3 years of Pediatric Outpatient experience. 3.94 GPA in my BSN program & currently in school for my MSN to become a Peds NP. I'm not sure what kind of qualifications they are looking for, especially with it being a fellowship which is supposed to help get into a specialty.

100% it seems unclear what specific qualifications or attributes candidates for this fellowships are expected to have. Based on what I've heard, it does seem like having connections within the system might play a significant role.

Wow this is great! You have a better chance than me! I do feel like connection play a role in the process but unfortunately I don't have any so we are just going to see how far my own skills take me LOL. But I do think that Northwell favors new grads for these fellowships for sure.

I'm a recent grad, and honestly, I don't think my GPA plays a huge role here. And yeah, same here don't have any connection

I heard that fellowships are dedicated to new grads and that they do not typically look at GPA but still shaky on what the selection criteria is then since it seems all applicants meet the minimum requirements

As far as I know, residency programs are typically designed for new graduates, while fellowship programs can vary depending on the hospital. I've seen some fellowship programs that require at least one year of experience. Regarding GPA, it also depends—some programs do have specific GPA requirements. But again, who knows

yeah was just quoting northwell recruiter from an info session

Has anyone heard back from the NSUH critical care fellowship?

has anyone heard back yet after the virtual on demand interviews for LIJ or Cohen's?
