Northern Ontario Nursing for a New Grad

Hi there,

I am a New Grad RN, to write my CRNE exam June 2, this year.

I'm from BC but looking for work all over Canada, as there does not seem to be much work here right now.

I have been offered a position as a New Grad RN to work in one of two small fly in communities in Northern Ontario. I would get posted at one of them, they are about 800-1,200 people each. They seem to have really good training, and we would never be left completely alone, we are sometimes the only RN on at nights, but there is always another RN on call to have phone advice or have come in to help in situations.

The perks are there, they would pay for the housing give a bonus of 4,000 after the first year and every 6 months you get another 2,000 or so on your paycheck to fly out home or have a vacation.

Anyhow there are those perks to it, and I do have a significant amount of student loans that I wouldn't mind paying off.

Has anyone gone as a New Grad to a smaller community, or lived in a Northern Community before? Any tips or advice? I would start with at least a year, but might do maybe two or so. There are no contracts to sign.

Thankyou,

glittergal
