Northeastern Direct Entry 2018

Published

Hi everyone! I have found threads for all of the direct entry programs that I am applying to except for Northeastern, so I wanted to get one started! I have received an email stating that my application has been received, but so far that is all I have heard. I'm looking forward to talking to some of you! I am finishing up my undergraduate degree with a major in health sciences and my undergraduate GPA is a 3.95. My GRE scores are decent, but I have limited experience in the field, short of some volunteering, so I am afraid that will hurt me. I would love to hear your stats and experiences!

That does immensely! I am from CA and really want to end up working here so I am wondering if they will still be able to have connections to hospitals all the way across the country once I complete the first year RN portion. I really love Northeastern and actually have had great communication with them when I have tried to talk to them. The campus is beautiful and I love the location as well as the reputation but if they do not help with clinical placements during the program I will be a little bummed :/. Do any of you know if they forsure set up clinical placements for the first year at least?

Hi! I have talked in depth with them about this, because I am planning on doing the same. For the NP portion of the program it is actually easier to get clinical placements outside of boston because it is so over saturated in boston for NPs. They work with you to find clinical placements. I plan to go to NH for that portion, so they said they would work with me to see who they know/trust in the area and will help me find a place and from what i understand they make the initial contact and I kind of just show up as a student in clinical. Since the classes are online, you are able to stay in your home state to do everything. Does that help?

Still waiting here, too! :( Did you interview already? I haven't received an invitation for an interview, but oddly enough I keep getting emails about attending their graduate open house.

The wait is terrible!

No I didn't interview, but I also keep getting emails regarding their graduate school.

I emailed admissions about it, and they basically said that the committee is still reviewing applications and an email will be sent once decisions have been made. No time frame was given. :/

I was told they do! I know I worded it weirdly but my interviewer (who was the director of the FNP program) said they work with you location wise and make sure you have a clinical. They don't leave you hanging. If you're unsure, I would definitely email the person you interviewed with or call the Director of the program (Janet Mcgowen) as one of them will have the answers! Northeastern is a wicked great school, and i think the fact that we get experience prior to being an NP is amazing, so our first patients by ourselves as NPs aren't our first patients period.

I completely agree. I also got into Vanderbilt but the program is ridiculously short (only two years!). I've talked to a multiple FNPs on the subject and at least in CA it would be extremely hard to get a job even with the MSN if you don't have any RN work experience...so while the time frame is longer for NEU I think it really is going to be worth it in the long run. Do you by chance know if they forsure help us the first year getting clinical placements as well?

Anyone else admitted to the adult gero acute care track?

I also was under the impression we did not have to apply again for the master's track.

I am! I heard back in Jan. Very excited!

Does anyone have any information on the structure of the program, as far as a weekly class schedule? Are some classes online, or is that after the BSN portion?

I am pretty sure the BSN is not online and the masters is hybrid!

Have you heard anything yet? I'm still painfully waiting!
