Question about possible move

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello everybody :) So, I am brand new to this site and I hope I am in the right place. My husband and I are in the beginning stages of planning a move. North Carolina is one of our top places of interest and specifically Raleigh, Asheville, or Cary. We were wondering if anyone could share any information on these places (salary, quality of life, crime, good/not as good places to work etc) or point us to someplace we might not have originally thought? I have 3 years experience at a level 1 trauma center in NYC and am currently working the Float pool. We are most nervous of the possible salary. I have read $19-21 an hour and wanted to know if this is true/normal. Even with the lower cost of living, we still have school loans :/ Any info would help. Thank you!

Cary and Raleigh are neighbors, Asheville is closer to Charlotte.

I doubt that you would start at the low end of the pay scale. New grads are close to $22/hr. When I applied for a prn job, they offered me about a quarter over my current salary.

Cary is probably the most expensive areas to live. There a nice places all around the Triangle area that are less expensive. There are a lot more job opportunities in the Raleigh-Durham area, I believe. We have 3 level 1 trauma centers in a 50 mile radius. If you work float pool you will most likely making much more that 20/hr
