LPN employment opportunities Wake/Johnston Counties

Hi!

I'm an LPN in Ohio with 13 years of experience in LTC/Rehab/Assisted Living.

Planning to relocate to the Raleigh area (Clayton) in approx. 5 months.

Are there many jobs for LPNs in the area? The only postings I've seen are

for RN's. I presently work as a charge nurse in a Assisted Living facility.

My wage is $18.00/hr. Are wages there comparable? I'm getting a little

nervous about finding a job. Anyone know anything about Wake Med in

Clayton?

Sandi: Hello! I live in Clayton. I'm an ADN student at Johnston Community College. I know that some of the medical offices in Wake Medical Park in Clayton hire LPN's. Check out www.wakemed.org. They should have any open positions listed. Also there are several LTC facilities that are ALWAYS looking for good staff -- The Bryan Center (Clayton), Smithfield Manor (Smithfield), Liberty Commons (Benson). The Carolina House (I believe the name has changed) is an assisted living faciltiy in Smithfield where my grandmother used to live.

As for hospitals, Wake Medical Center in Raleigh usually does not hire LPNs. They do sometimes hire in their rehabilitation hospital which has an excellent reputation. Duke Health Raleigh Hospital (used to be Raleigh Community Hospital) does hire LPNs on their Med-Surg floors. Also, Johnston Memorial Hospital hires LPNs. I plan on taking my NCLEX PN early this fall and work as an LPN part time during my last two semesters of school. I'm always looking out to see who's hiring. Not too sure what the payscale is for experienced LPNs.

The area is totally expanding, and there are so many opportunities. Let me know if you want to know a bit more about the area. I'm a transplant from NJ and I've been here 7 years.
