hi ms. suzanne, it's me again. i just want to ask if ces is necessary for applying in north carolina, and what kind of english proficiency test do they need, incase they need one actually when i browsed through the requirements for applying for licensure in north carolina, so ces is required and english proficiency exam, but when i went to cgfns.org and tried to apply for ces thru online, it always says that there are currently no credential evaluation service services available for you to order. what does that mean? and again, what kind of english exam? toefl? ielts? pls help and advice. thank you in advance. :typing:nurse:

That happens once in while. It's just their service for that option was off-line at that particular time. You can try again later on.

but do you have any idea what kind of english test do they require? thanks!!

Each state has their own requirements and you need to check out with their website as far as their specific requirements.

It will be specifically written if they want anything.

In their website, they posted that they accept both TOEFL and IELTS but gave a comment that it is only needed if the foreign nursing program was not taught in English.

If I were you, I would try and contact them first and formally request that the English Req't be waived for reasons of the program having been taught in English and using Nursing books that are all printed in English as well.

There are many that did these with other Boards of Nursing as well, even on those States that do not even mention that they can be waived and many were granted the waiver.

Good luck.

Specializes in OR CHN.

I also submitted my application to NCBON, I just indicated in the application that the language used in our teaching was english, and reiterated that to the school registrar to indicate it in my transcript as well. CES is a requirement at NCBON.
