Non nursing career?

Published

So I've been thinking a lot lately and am thinking of maybe switching my career path. I'm just not sure if I'm cut out to be a nurse anymore. So I'm just asking if anyone has any suggestions on other avenues I can take using my bachelor's degree but not using my nursing license. I still want to work with people and help people so If anyone has done this or has ideas o positions that would still pay a decent amount of money but just not being a nurse I'd grately appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I feel you on this topic!

I am now in the portion of my contract where I can work, the suspension is lifted. I have a psych facility that wants me.

But lo, I do not want to nurse.

The job I have right now fulfills every aspect of my needs and I do not want to leave it. Right now the struggle is trying to figure out how to keep this non nursing job and retain my license.

look for jobs that require a human services degree. Nursing degrees fall within this category, and public health jobs are typically not licensed.

Thank you! Do you know if typically jobs with those degrees still make decent money? Not that money is the only thing that's important but I have a son and I'm a single mom so I still have to make sure my bills are paid lol

Definitly not as much as a nurse but you can still make a pretty good living depending in which way you go. Social work doesn't pay near as much but can certainly be as rewarding!

You can still use your nursing degree in non-medical capacities. My friend, for example, just got a job working as a case monitor for Alcon.

Medical device companies like to hire former nurses. Pharm sales, too, I believe.
