Hello! I am new here and happy to find this forum. Can you help me? I want to pass the IELTS test. I need it for the visa screen. But the problem is, most of the time I find myself at a loss for words to say, especially on the speaking part. No matter how often I practise, I still have trouble expressing and describing things. Even a simple question as tell me about yourself, I am at a loss for things to say... I would really appreciate any advice from native english speakers out there on how I can improve on this weakness.

Which country are you from? I would highly recommend speaking with some friends on-line using instant messenger from either Yahoo, AOL, or MSN.
The big difference is that you have to think right away, someone is waiting for an immediate answer. With regular e-mails you can actually write the message and go over it for quite a long period before sending it.
I work with foreign nurses on a daily basis and this helps my students quite a bit. If you would like to add me to your instant messenger list, it is fine with me.
Good luck and hope that this helps. p.s. I have Yahoo and Hotmail (MSN)
