non compact and compact state discipline issue

Hi everyone,

I am new to this and new to getting into trouble for medication diversion after 11 years of being a poster child nurse. I worked in a non-compact state for a few months where I diverted medications. My informal hearing is pending. I currently live in a compact state and would be practicing had I not screwed up. My question is: Does anyone know what type of action the compact state will take against me? Will I have to go through the whole humiliting process twice? I know when this happens in two different compact statethe answer is yes. I have not been able to find any info on my situation. My econd question is if the non-compact state places me in a rehabilitation program, how do I do it from across the country? Any articles or links to info like this would be appreciated.

Questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:

Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?

Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a MIP, DUI, or other related charges?

What happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?

Can I go to nursing school and/or be licensed if my record has been sealed or expunged?

Will I be able to go to nursing school with a criminal record?

What can happen if I receive a MIP/DUI/DWI or other charge while still in school?

most state boards of nursing have on application/license renewal statement such as pa's:

q: how will complaints and disciplinary action against licensed nurses be handled under the nurse licensure compact?

a:

the compact authorizes the nurse licensing board of any compact state (home or remote state) to investigate allegations of unsafe practice by any nurse practicing in that state. based upon the outcome of the investigation, a remote state licensing board may deny the nurse’s privilege to practice in that state. only the nurse’s home state licensing board may take action against the nurse’s license. however, compact states will be allowed to share current significant investigative information with each other via the coordinated licensure information system,

please note: a licensee who is under a disciplinary order or agreement that limits practice or requires monitoring, as well as those licensees in alternative to discipline programs, may not work in a remote state on a privilege without prior written authority of both the home state and the remote state.
