I'm a GN on a step-down critical care unit. I'm in my 7th week of orientation out of 14 weeks. I like what I do but this past week was TOUGH. I felt a little overwhelmed and doubted myself several times. Today I found out I was nominated for employee of the month!! There are about 40 RN's on my unit (8 of those GN's) so this makes me feel somewhat validated and appreciated! I feel more encouraged in what I do. Anyways, just wanted to share how happy I felt.

Is this the type of validation where friends nominate and validate each other? Enjoy it if you can, but I don't think I could unless it came with a raise in pay ...or someone should at least bring me donuts ...any kind of food, really.
It is a a nomination where other employees vote for employee of the month. I get along with mostly everyone but I'm not friends persay with any of them that's why I was kind of surprised. As a GN, this is kind of big for me but I'm sure as I get more experience I'll expect more of a "reward" rather than just the recognition. I heard there is candy involved. That's a food group, right? Lol.

YES! That qualifies.
