any noc shift workers....

hey guys...

any of the vampire nurses out there on noc shift workout also? does this help you sleep and create a better sleeping routine? before my noc job i loved to workout but now with this crazy schedule i find it hard because im always exhausted. i feel like an old lady but im in my 20's. if you do workout with this schedule when do you do it?

working out always gave me energy so that is what im worried about...that it may cause me to be even more restless/sleepless than i already am. maybe instead of asking you guys i should get off my butt and try it myself lol but remember i said i feel like an old lady so im being lazy and asking you guys first :)

I'm a runner.. And a noc nurse. When I first started I struggled to adjust! I used to love my morning run, it would give me energy for the rest of the day.

Now if I'm working I'll run before my shift starts. And switch back to my morning run schedule on my days off.

As long as I get the run in at some point of the day my body and mind stays sane.

I also sometimes like to swim laps after a shift. It relaxes/cools off my sore body after a 12 hour shift!

thanks for your input :) yea i really want to start a routine of any type of physical activity. i think it will help my total well being. the sleeping situation on noc shift is pretty rough for me. hopefully working out will help.

Regular exercise definitely helps you sleep better

I try to exercise regularly but since I have no one to watch my 4 year old twins while I "sleep" I don't really get much sleep. On the rare occasion I do have someone to watch them, I get up early and exercise before my shift and it does help.
